The Sad Truth of Pet Loss Grief
January 28th, 2012In many households, a pet is like a member of the family. It is loved, adored, and spoiled, and a pet can enrich lives in a number of ways. When a family with children has a pet, or more than one, the pets grow as the children grow, when older people have pets, the pets get older as the owners do. For some people, a pet is a constant companion, and sometimes their only companion. Any time a pet becomes ill, it is difficult for the owners to deal with, whether it is a family or an older couple or an individual. If the pet succumbs to the illness, there is often a great sense of sorrow and loss. Pet loss grief is as real as any other kind of grief. Losing a pet can be almost as devastating as losing a family member for some people. It is a truly deep heartache that sometimes takes a long time to get through.
