Teaching My Mother How to Build a Website

January 27th, 2012

My mother is a smart woman for her age, but she grew up at a time when computers were not something that just anyone had access to, let alone having one in every room of the house. I wanted her to feel comfortable, then, when we sat down together and I showed her how to build a website of her own. She asked me about it the other weekend when she was looking at a digital photo album that I had made for my kids, and she said that she wished she had something like that to keep all of her memories safe. I told her there were plenty of places that could store and sort the pictures for her, but she wanted to make a site from scratch so she could have everything perfectly as she saw it in her mind’s eye. It was really simple to show her, and I know she enjoyed it more than she thought she would.
